Gweru-based premiership newcomers Sheasham FC have confirmed the appointment of former Gweru United star, Wonder Chaka as the club’s Chief Executive Officer.
Sheasham FC was promoted into the Premier Soccer League from the ZIFA Central Soccer Division One league last year.
The club’s vice president, Happiness Dziva, confirmed that they had appointed Chaka to oversee affairs at the club ahead of its debut premiership season.
“It’s actually a value addition to Shaeaham football club, his CV speaks for himself. He played for quite a number of legendary clubs in Zimbabwe including CAPS United, he played for Dynamos…,” Dziva said.
Chaka played for the Warriors in the early 80s and was a soccer star finalist, once coached lower division side ZimAlloys.
His appointment as Sheasham FC`s CEO came at a time the club is ramping up preparations for its maiden season in the premier soccer league.
The club, Dziva said, believed that the experience Chaka “has in football he will be actually able to transfer that to the club.”
Sheasham has been on the market for new blood and has also tapped into relegated Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services side Whawha FC for new talent.
The club is also currently renovating Bata Stadium in Gweru with the hope of using it as its home ground for the season.
