Zimbabwe’s own, Langton Rusere is among the selected experienced group of umpires for the T20 World Cup 2024 as the panel includes Richard Illingworth, the 2023 David Shepherd Trophy winner for ICC Umpire of the Year.
Among the panel are Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney, and Paul Reiffel, who officiated the thrilling 2022 final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.
This tournament will be a landmark event for Jayaraman Madanagopal, Sam Nogajski, Allahudien Paleker, Rashid Riaz, and Asif Yaqoob, as they make their debuts in a senior men’s event, showcasing their exceptional umpiring skills on the global stage.
The match referees’ team welcomes back Ranjan Madugalle, who oversaw the 2022 final. The panel also includes Jeff Crowe, the format’s most experienced referee, with 175 T20I matches to his name.
Rusere (38), from Zimbabwe, has displayed his career as an international cricket umpire, marked by notable milestones and a deep passion for the game.
Rusere’s journey into international umpiring began with his debut in a Twenty20 match between Zimbabwe and India in Harare on July 19, 2015.
Just three months later, he made his One Day International (ODI) debut in a match against Afghanistan in Bulawayo, cementing his place in the international umpiring fraternity.
His early successes paved the way for further opportunities on the global stage, in 2016, Rusere officiated at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in Bangladesh, where he showcased his skills in handling high-pressure matches involving young cricketing talents from around the world.
