Evicted Gweru family endures 2 months in cold weather

1 Mins read

Gweru –         A Gweru family that was evicted from its Athlone suburbs  home in April this year has now endured two months of cold nights and days living in the open.

The couple, Mr Paul John Frank Navrapal and Mrs Beauty Marimira-Navrapal who have hearing, talking and psychiatric problems were tricked into giving up their title deeds as surety for a US$100 000 loan taken by a stranger in 2009 leading to their home being sold fraudulently without their knowledge.

One of the family members Rose Navrapal says their living conditions are beginning to take a toll on their health as the young children are now beginning to get sick and are therefore forced to miss school.

“There is a pre-school child who is currently sick and we are suspecting it’s because of the cold weather. Because of her condition, she has had to miss school for a few days,” she said.

Despite attempts to engage court officials and human rights lawyers, the process has been slow and hence the family is appealing to well wishers for any form of assistance.
