The family of a Zhombe man who was murdered while guarding gold ore at a mill is refusing to bury him and has dumped the body at the home of the suspected killers, a local chief has said.
58-year-old Emmanuel Ushe was killed last week allegedly by four men, who injured two other people during the robbery.
“There is a wrangle over the corpse and we are busy dealing with the matter. I am on my way from Harare and will be meeting with the families so that we see how to resolve the situation as the body of the deceased has been dumped at the home of the murder suspects,” Chief Gwesela of Zhombe said.
Ushe and his two children, aged 14 and 9, were attacked on October 9 at about 0100 hours while guarding their gold ore at a mill near Zhombe East Business Centre, according to the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
“During the attack, the men force marched the two children to a nearby homestead about 50 metres from the hammer mill, they forced open doors, awakened everyone there, and assaulted them using the axe and iron bar also demanding cash,” said ZRP Midlands Provincial Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, in a statement.
