The country`s top-flight football league season is set to kick off on Saturday, November 6, 2022, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced.
The return of the league brings to an end its two-year hiatus due to the outbreak of COVID 19 in Zimbabwe. The last league action was in December 2019 when FC Platinum beat CAPS United on the final day to claim the title.
The PSL, in a statement on Friday, announced that the 2021/22 league season will kick off on Saturday next week.
“The 2021/22 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season is set to commence on Saturday 6 November 2021. The league will break in December for holidays and resume in February 2022 after the Africa Cup of Nations matches,” read the statement from PSL Communications and Media Liaison Officer Kudzai Bare.
The 2021 Total AFCON tournament is scheduled to take place from January 9 to February 6, 2022, in Cameroon.
The PSL was urging all clubs and stakeholders to strictly adhere to COVID 19 protocols to ensure our stadia remain safe during this pandemic, said Bare.
The Sports and Recreation Commission recently gave the green light for vaccinated spectators in the stadia for the Chibuku Super Cup tournament which is underway.
